Barack Obama's TV Ad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IaVrYVxFYM

Barack Obama is trying to explain the detail why we need to break out of high gas prices and foreign oils. He wants to create efficient energy to fuel America. Also he wants to create new environment friendly job opportunities. We liked this T.V. ad because the setting looked retro so we were wondering what it had to connect with Barack Obama's message. We didn't like the music because it was too corny. Finally we liked how his voice stood out from the music so we could clearly understand the message.

John McCain's TV Ad

http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcsGqU4SS4o

(The video is linked above.) This video is a lot like his other TV ads the same background voice and the same text boxes crossing across the screen. The thing that Palin and McCain have accomplished in there life is mentioned. Also they are saying that without them in the White House it wouldn't be perfect.

Election Results

1. Are you satisfied with the elections result? why or why not?

I was satisfied with the results because Barack Obama is a younger person and understands what people want in this century. Also if McCain or Palin were in office it would be bad because
they don't seem to know what they are talking about.

2. After seeing it in action last night, would you still keep or get rid of the electoral college
system?

After the election I would keep the electoral college system because everyone knows how it works. If we changed it then the new system that would be made, might not be ready for the next election and cause confusion.

3. How close was your map to the results? What changed? What actually happened?

My map was one state off of being perfect. the one state that was wrong was North Carolina. I was wrong because I said that McCain would win it. Barack Obama won that state.

4. Did your Gallup poll research influence your prediction? If so why?

My research did not influence my prediction because I new that everyone liked Obama more then McCain. The polls showed that Obama would win the election anyways. McCain seemed like he was going to win in the spring ,but once Sarah Palin came into the election it was over for him.

5. Other Comments you would like to share?

On CNN I liked the holograms of the people. It seemed futuristic and I had no clue we had that technology yet. Also the check inns when ever a state was decided they would have an alert noise that would notify you.

John McCain's Web Site Review

John McCain's website was well laid out because there are pictures in the text to let the reader picture what is being talked about. Also we enjoyed how there were pictures of the candidate and his running partner. Finally we liked how John McCain posted pictures for the issues, so you had general understanding of what they were. We didn't like how there was an ad for John McCain because he was talking and it was hard to read the opening page.

Barack Obama's Web Site Review

Barrack Obama website is good in some ways and bad in different ways. One good thing about this website is that you can go to Hillary's Clinton's website down on his main page. Another good thing about this website is the colors represent the Democratic party. One bad thing about this website is there is much more text than he has pictures which doesn't interest you very much. We also don't like how big the main page is because when you start to get to the end of the page it gets really boring.

Age Gallup Poll

http://www.gallup.com/poll/108034/Candidate-Support-Age.aspx

This Gallup poll put Obama way ahead of McCain with younger voters. As the age of the voters increased Obama's lead diminished until he was tied with McCain for support from voters 65 and up.

Region Gallup Poll

http://www.gallup.com/poll/108037/Candidate-Support-Region.aspx

This pole shows how people in the different regions feel about the candidates. These results show that Obama is more popular in the North, the East, and the West but McCain is more popular in the South probably because he from Arizona. Obama is from Illinios and leads the east by the largest gape. The results have not changed much since the begining of August. But in Mid-August McCain took a small lead in the Mid-West.

Energy

Barack Obama

Barack Obama says he will spend 150 billion in clean energy. He would do this over the next 10 years and make new fuel economy standards. Obama doesn’t support a gas tax holiday because he says that his experiences with it have caused the people and the state to lose money. He will give each family a $1,000 energy rebate straight from the oil companies. Obama wants to sell 70 million barrels of our reserve oil for cheaper crude oil. He wants to tax the oil companies profit.
Obama was against off shore drilling but now he is for lifting the ban on off shore drilling. Obama supports nuclear power and finding out how to make it safer. He also supports clean coal energy. He would make sure that all new cars can support future technology. He would make $4 billion in loans to manufacturers. This would be to make more fuel efficient cars. He would also put 1 million into making 150 mpg hybrids cars for America within the next 6 years. He would also give a $7,000 tax credit to people who buy fuel efficient cars. Obama would require that 10% of our energy is renewable.

John McCain

John McCain wants to make national energy that relies on americas workforce. He supports suspending the gas tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day. McCain doesn’t want to buy foreign oil during a time of hight prices. He doesn’t want to the tax on the oil companies profit. He wants to lift the ban on off shore drilling and give incentives to states that also lift the ban. McCain wants 45 new nuclear power plants by the end of 2030 and eventually making 1000 plants. He would also provide a safe storage of used nuclear fuel. He would also give $2 Billion every year to clean coal technologies. Would give a $300 million award for a small cheap battery for plug in hybrids. Wants car makers to make flex-fuel cars. Would give tax credits to the making of wind, solar and Hydro energy. Wants to make a plan to address the rapid climate change.

Taxes

Barack Obama

Senator Obama plans to cut taxes for 95% of workers by $500 or working couples by $1,000.
He will also provide tax cuts for middle to low income senior citizens, owners of houses, the uninsured, and other people that plan to do anything specific with their money. Taxes will be cut for the middle class families. Under Obama's plan, middle class families would get three times as much tax cuts than McCain's plan. Families that make over $250,000 will pay equal or lower tax rates than what they paid during the '90s. Barack plans to reduce revenues to less than 18.2% of GDP by cutting taxes overall.
John McCain
McCain opposed tax cut laws in 2001 and 2003, but later agreed with extending tax cuts through 2010. He plans to keep the present rates on dividends, capital gains, current income, and investment tax rates. He says he would increase child deduction from $3,500 to $7,000.
John says he would decrease the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%. He strongly believes in increasing the exemption from taxing on houses up to $10 million while cutting the tax rate to 10%. He would forbid new cell phone taxes and Internet taxes.

Healthcare

Barack Obama

Barack Obama thinks of health insurance through business. He proposes to let all workers keep their own health insurance if they have it. He has also proposed to give tax credits to small businesses, which will allow them to have assistance in buying insurance for their employees. He proposes that the government administers a health plan that can be easily affordable for Americans, and requires it mandatory for private businesses to support this plan. He also requires it mandatory for families with children to have insurance for them. Obama will allow Americans to buy medicine from other developed countries as long it medicine is safe and costs less than it does in America. He also repeal than ban that prevents America from negotiating with drug companies. On the issue of health care payment, Obama estimates it will cost between $50 billion and $65 billion, which will be payed off from cutting the Bush tax cuts on families earning more than $250,000.

John McCain

John McCain thinks very differently about health care than Barack Obama does. McCain opposes creating universal helthcare. He also wants to make a tax credits for individuals($2,500 tax credit) and families($5,000 tax credit) so Americans can get an insurance plan from any private insurance company they choose as an alternative to an employee-based plan, which McCain wants to move away from. He proposes to let Americans buy insurance nationwide and across state borders. He also wants to work with governors and set up a plan that would be more affordable. McCain will also allow doctors to work across state lines and will eliminate lawsuits against doctors who follow clinical guidelines.

The Economy

Barack Obama

On the issue of The Economy Barack Obama's campaign supported the 700 billion Wall Street bailout. He also stated that we need new rules for financial institutions and he supports increasing the federal insurance. He proposed a plan that will help families with their mortgages. He has also proposed to keep jobs within the United States by giving $3,000 to businesses for new hiring. He wants to try to create $25 billion worth of jobs. He proposed a plan that would let families withdraw money from their retirement funds without penalty. He wants to extend unemployment insurgents for 13 weeks. I think Obama's Ideas are good and will help our government get out of this hole.

John McCain

On the issue of The Economy John McCain supports the Wall Street Bail out. He supports increasing the federal insurance and wants to create high-level commission to strengthen federal agencies. He wants to create an agency that helps companies avoid bankruptcy. He proposed a plan that would direct governments to buy bad mortgage loans from banks and homeowners. There would be specific qualifications the plan. McCain has proposed suspending the requirement that investors begin dissolving their IRAs and 401(k)s. John McCain has a good veiw on some of these pionts but I feel that some of what he is informing isn't going to help our Economy get any better.
